A sofa can make or break a living room. Trying to find an attractive option that’s both comfortable and within your price range is harder than it should be, especially when shopping online. Attempting to actually get the couch inside can be another ordeal entirely. The WIRED Gear team has tested several seating options extensively over the past two years, and many of our top picks are on sale for Black Friday. Best of all, they’ll ship straight to your house—there’s no need to call in a favor with your truck-owning friend.
Updated November 27: We’ve added the Albany Park Kova, a couch we’re currently testing.
These picks were tested by our Gear team and featured in our Best Couches guide. We advise double-checking shipping dimensions to ensure the boxes will fit through your doorframe once they arrive.
Couch Deals
This couch is sturdy and stain-resistant but manages to be comfortable despite its durability. It’s available in a variety of colors, finishes, and configurations. Assembly was easy, and the seats are deep without making you feel like you’re falling. There’s a 100-day trial, plus a lifetime warranty on the frame. Allform is owned by Helix, makers of our favorite mattress.
Burrow’s Cyber Weekend promo code takes 10 percent off, with additional savings based on how much you spend. The Arch Nomad Sectional, which includes a chaise lounge and therefore costs a bit more, is featured in our guide to the Best Couches. Every configuration is on sale, and they all feature quick assembly and plump, inviting cushions. There’s also a built-in USB charger.
Senior writer Scott Gilbertson said this luxurious couch is “…the best-looking and most comfortable couch [he’s] ever sat on.” There are multiple fabrics and finishes to choose from. There’s a lifetime warranty on the frame and a 100-day trial period. Note that shipping adds $99.
Almost the entire Lovesac lineup is 20 percent off, but the Sactionals (yes, really) are our favorite. The super-modular sofas can be customized both while purchasing and down the road, so you theoretically won’t need to replace your sofa every time your living situation changes. We also like the optional Stealthtech upgrade (8/10, WIRED Recommends), but it’s ridiculously expensive, so we advise shopping now or forever waiting until the next inevitable sale. There’s a three-year warranty on cushions and pillows, and a lifetime warranty on everything else.
Best Buy, Elephant In A Box ($960)
Couches are expensive. Sure, they’re an investment, but as a renting Millennial, I know firsthand that oftentimes my idea of “investing” is more along the lines of spending a hundred bucks, not a thousand. This sofa is the best cheap option we’ve tested. It is not the most comfortable or the best-looking, but it’s totally fine for the price, especially with this deal. It would be a definite upgrade from a broken hand-me-down or a tattered thrift store loveseat. Assembly is easy. There’s a three-year fabric warranty and a lifetime warranty on other components.

No room for a sofa? Living on a seventh-floor walkup with waifish doorframes and rickety banisters? A chair might be better than a sofa. This is the best price we’ve ever seen for this WIRED-favorite armchair, which is available in a huge array of colors. It features customizable arms, legs, cushion styles, and more. (Click on “Customize” to see all of the options.) Note that customization can drive up the cost. This product isn’t discounted very frequently.

It is not yet featured in our couch roundup, but WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu is currently testing this couch right now and likes it a lot. He says it’s super comfortable and very easy to assemble, though the pillows do need to be adjusted frequently.
